Founders Day

24 July 2005

The day turned wet about midday but was nevertheless a success. I may have missed many past members who covered themselves with hats and rainproofs.

Founders Day 2005

Had to include the 8 valve Triumph that I designed at Meriden ...

... I feel guilty that the heads are porous and the cylinder sleeves sink into the barrel.

High quality on the latest Indian Enfields. An interesting sidecar ...

... and the strongest looking steering damper I ever saw on an outfit.

Founders Day 2005

I have fond memories of riding Derek Foster's Panther outfit to the Elephant Rally in the early 70s ...

... and getting it back again.

Founders Day 2005

This HD looked good enough to eat ...

... but by golly, wouldn't it blow your diet!

Founders Day 2005

A nicely turned out Douglas Dragonfly not a mini BMW nor a Velocette Valiant ...

... but I'm not opposed to horizontally opposed I suppose.

Founders Day 2005

A shiney bright Vincent ...

... riden by the owner of a nickel mine?

A fine example of a Velocette Vogue ...

... well it is if you click the arrow for the next photo.

Founders Day 2005

Anyone fancy a CR110 replica Honda ...

... yours for £2,750 ONO.

With this Matchless powered Morgan ...

... you can give other road users the V.

Founders Day 2005

This Maico provides a very comfortable ride ...

... if the spring under the saddle doesn't launch you into space.

Founders Day 2005

Pete Vines risked being turfed off the site as a hoody.

Founders Day 2005

Rob Winnett dragged son Craig round the event in the rain.

"See what we had to put up with on rallies? Kids today are soft ... " rant rant.

John Parbery used to envy the beer soaking qualities of a full beard ...

... but was glad not to have one soaking up all this rain.

Dave Cockerton kept the brim of his hat down to keep the rain off ...

... it was a struggle to catch a glimpse of him.

Founders Day 2005

Margaret Wells enjoyed the day but ...

... wished she had brought WD40 instead of sunscreen.

Ken Wells thought he could raise a few bob for the BMF selling kisses ...

... until he saw Ben Crossley approaching.

Jock McDuff did not realize the rider of the steam powered Haleson wanted a jubilee clip for a loose hose ...

... he just heard him call for a pipe band.
