Butler Henderson Cafe, Quorn
A nice ride out today with Ian B & Tim who I joined at Rothley Station. We stopped at Bradgate Park cafe for hot drinks, then lunch at Quorn station. Bonus was seeing a 9F steam engine..
- Richard Sleath
Ian 2 warned me about floods at Cossington, so I went via Wanlip and Rhubarb Hill to Rothley Station. Stopped at the reservoir and Bradgate cafe. Up Beacon hill for lunch at Quorn Station. Back to Rothley and home. I did go down to Cossington to see, but doubled back towards Birstall. Some sunshine today, but a shower in Syston.

This week Embers cycled between them.
The Elms, Lutterworth
Cold but great to get out and about. Light rain pretty much over by eleven so a good day. Started at Lutterworth's Karter’s café then ventured for a relaxed ride round to the Kilworths via Kimcote then to the Elms carvery back in Lutterworth.

At least we had an opportunity to test our expensive rainwear before the end of the year. Helen and Mick Ayriss enjoyed similar weather cycling on Tuesday from Bruges to Sluice in the Netherlands.
On Friday, four Embers cycled to the Stilton Cheese in Somerby. We are keen to find out how they reached there without clibling any hills.

Elephant and Castle, Thurlaston
Thirty trees down across roads in Blaby by 11am. One blocked road on our route and caused us to divert but we were lucky to get an early warning. Despite the wind 9 made it to Huncote and enjoyed a challenging ride with coffee at Burbage Common café and lunch at the Elephant and Castle in Thurlaston.

Soar Bridge Inn, Barrow upon Soar
Velo John led ten trusty travelers on an expedition round northern Leicestershire. Starting at Mr Bowers then coffee at Rothley railway station and finally lunch at the Soar Bridge Inn at Barrow on Soar. It rained during lunch but just the occasional drop of rain otherwise; so well organised again by Velo John. A nice leisurely ride today after the excesses of Christmas. We will meet next week at Asda.
