Admiral Wells, Holme

As people said, today’s ride made up for the short ride last week. A great outward journey but we paid the price on the return as we were riding back into very strong winds.

A nice new pub with good food at Holme called the Admiral Wells, and a coffee stop in Oundle at the Coffee Tavern completed the day. Generally a tough ride with 37 miles.

This week many Embers cycled miles between them.

Red Lion, Hollington

Not a very promising day but that didn't deter a dozen Embers from gathering at Mercia Marina for their thirst ride. Velo John picked a good route that was Mercia-fully free of hills.

After loitering in the cafe we cycled to the Red Lion in Hollington where they claim to serve the best pies in Derbyshire. I don't think we would argue with that.

This week many Embers cycled miles between them.

Bull and Anchor, Ash Green

A bit of a scorcher. A good ride though with a visit to Hoar Park and a new pub in Ash Green near Bedworth called the Bull and Anchor. A closed footpath on the way back caused a diversion in Bedworth itself but thank goodness for gps; other than that a good day out.

This week some Embers cycled locally or on other days so many cycled miles.

Moorhen, Peterborough

Simon and Grahame cycled locally nd returned to a favourite pub for lunch.

Nine Embers visited Tony Bradley in Northborough. Peter and Dave motorcycled the area and called in to see off the seven Embers who cycled the Green Wheel..

Left to right: Tony Bradley, Dave Parry, John Ashworth, Derek Jordan, Ian Bower, Ben Crossley, Mick Ayriss, John Muschialli, Richard Clark. Roll your mouse to zoom into this photo by Peter Wright.

After losing our way through a new housing estate we arrived at the Moorhen later than usual where Tony had waited patiently for us.

In the final week of June, many Embers cycled miles.

Storming into August.
