Railway Inn, Glenfield
Embers start 2025 with Coffee at Asda Abbey Lane before cycling to Glenfield. Lunch at the Railway Inn on a very cold and icy day.
From Glenfield, the Embers divided to take different directions home. For Peter and Ricardo, this was a happy return to the fold.
This week many Embers cycled miles between them.

Red Lion, Huncote
Freezing weather following floods made cycling risky this week. Discretion being the better part of valour, Embers cycled locally on the best days or walked from the designated start location.
Mick Ayriss and Ian Bower ventured out on bicycles on Tuesday
Embers left bikes at home because of ice and floods. Five of us walked up Croft Hill on a rather cold day. Then to the Red Lion for lunch.

From the top of Huncote New Hill Nature Reserve.
A Trig Point is visible WNW from here, at the summit of Croft Hill.
This week many Embers cycled, walked, canoed or skated miles on different days.
Shires Inn, Peatling Parva
Five Embers chose to cycle locally on Tuesday with an earlier start and finish.
By Thursday the cold weather returned and the morning was foggy. Seven Embers who braved the conditions and warmed up with coffee at Wistow Garden Centre.
We were rewarded by a good lunch at the Shires Inn, Peatling Parva, and a sunny afternoon ride back.
Three Embers caught up with their cycling on Friday.
A modest 8 miles today for Ricardo, I started from the Sea Cadets on Ross Walk.
We had tea & toasted tea cakes in Birstall, then homemade hotcross buns & tea back at Dave's. Dave also jet washed all our bikes, as they were muddy from cycling through Watermead.
Also stopped at City Cycles to buy a new cycle computer.

On Tuesday, Thursday and Friday many Embers cycled more than miles.
Railway Inn, Glenfield
Storm Éowyn upset our plans this week. Thursday was a washout and Friday blew in gales. Therefore the rump of the Embers repeated the first ride of the year by meeting at Asda on Saturday, and then revisiting Railway Inn in Glenfield.
Again there were several sorties and solo miles counted. So many Embers cycled miles on different days and directions.
The Woodmans Stroke, Rothley
Another cold and sunny winters day with the Embers. More social than miles but good pub meal at The Woodmans Stroke and two coffee stops, outwards at JB Kitchen and homebound at Tea Garden Cafe at Gosport Nurseries.
Great to see guys out who have been struggling with illness, plus a chance to celebrate Ben's birthday.
Polishing off January with many Embers cycling a leisurely miles.
