Red Lion, Huncote
Rode from Cosby via Broughton Astley to Huncote with extra miles for those who cycled from home to our start.
Today, as we change from summer rides to shorter winter rides, we enjoyed lots of chatter plus two coffee stops and one pub lunch. Probably shortest ride we have done for a long time, but maybe that was good as it was quite hilly.

The Welby, Melton Mowbray
Ten Embers picked the best day of the week for a cycle ride from Syston to Melton Mowbray. Miles and hills taken at a gentle pace with cafe stops at The Hideout in Asfordby on the way there and Beardsleys Tearoom coming home.
In Melton, we turned north on the Nottingham Road and tried The Welby Hungry Horse pub. Then looped back to Asfordby Hill along Welby Lane and Welby Road.

Railway Inn, Glenfield
Only mad dogs and embers go out in the midday freeze. Today twelve embers met at Kirby Muxloe and were led by Richard Sleath on a route around western Leicester. First we headed south to Leicester Forest East then east to Braunstone and then again south to Fosse park. There we tried various coffee shops but the queues were horrible and we ran out of time so decided to carry on. We did manage to warm up in the shopping centre.
To get into Leicester we travelled along to the Great Central Way and followed it to the Raleigh. Turning north west we made it to the Railway Inn, Glenfield where the warmth was again much appreciated.
At this point three embers had to leave the group but the other nine headed back along another old railway line to Ratby and then to the Royal Oak pub in Kirby Muxloe where most stopped for coffee before finally heading back to the car park. Most of the route was off road so well done Ricardo.

The Elms, Lutterworth
Twelve Embers met at Karter’s café in Lutterworth for today’s ride and obviously had to start with a coffee. The overcast weather kept temperatures very moderate and the rain held off so a good day. For the morning part of the ride we decided on a gentle 12 mile course that took us on a circular route back to Lutterworth for lunch. We first headed south towards Swinford and then onto Stanford on Avon where we had a banana break before pointing north up to South Kilworth. There we turned north west back to Lutterworth via Walcote. Lunch was taken at The Elms, a public house specializing in a carvery.
After lunch we thought another coffee was required so rode 3 miles up to Palmers garden centre in Ullesthorpe. With people having biked in from various locations in the morning seven went off to their starting points leaving five to ride back to Lutterworth again via Bitteswell.
