A balmy breeze for a barmy dozen Embers, with cafe stops before starting, half way, and on the return.
One lucky Ember took a tumble. Lucky, because he made it to the grass verge, otherwise it could have been very nasty.
On the way back, we divided into two groups. That made us less of an obstruction for motor vehicles, all in a hurry to get from somewhere stupid to nowhere at all.
This week many Embers cycled miles between them.
Red Lion, Huncote
With our leader enjoying the delights of Wales, the Embers split into two groups. Us old uns cycled from Huncote via Mallory Park and Burbage Common for lunch back at the Red Lion, Huncote. More a social event then a cycle ride.

Four Embers took advantage of Ben being on holiday and did a long distance ride while the days are still light longer. We started from Newark at 9 o'clock and took cycle route 64 towards Lincoln.
When we reached Collingham it was time for a coffee, then onwards again on quiet roads. We had to pull over to let a tractor and trailer full of onions pass. We then followed a trail of onions, which we picked up. We had a brief stop in Harby to read about Queen Eleanor dieing there, then had lunch at the Railway Inn, at Thorpe on the Hill. The ride back to Newark was into the wind most of the time, which made up for the lack of hills!
