World Record

In 1972 the Leicester Phoenix was entering its second decade as a popular and established motorcycle club under the Chairmanship of Eric Tindall. The new committee agreed that an effort should be made to put the club firmly on the map.

Plans were made to involve the whole club in achieving the world record for non-stop motorcycle riding. The effort demanded a lot of commitment and hard work from a broad spectrum of members to prepare and carry out the attempt.

Members were inspired by Eric's enthusiasm and hard work, supported by committee members determined that the attempt should go ahead - and succeed.

Members from that period recall the record event as a landmark in the club's history. It is included in this subsection as a tribute to everyone who participated with the spirit that continues to make the Leicester Phoenix Motorcycle Club the epitome of comradship through self supporting endeavour.
