Pilgrims

32nd Pilgrims Rally, August 2007 - Mayflower MCC

In 2007 there was only a small group. On Friday, 3 August, the following participants drove towards England. Walter Trappe with Jeffrey Reuter 12 years old (Yamaha XV535 Virago), Hans Mondorf with daughter Anna 12 years old (BMW K100RS).

As in previous years everything went as usual. The same route via Belgium and France to Calais for the ferry. The usual traffic jam on the M25 and especially before the Dartford Tunnel. Arrived in Purleigh on the "New Hall Vineyards" the beautiful part of the journey began.

After registering at reception, the two children helped us set up our tents. Since it was their third participation in this place, they knew the process and the location. Walter and I didn't have to look after them as intensively as we did last year. So we had more time to enjoy the pleasure with the Mayflowers. My daughter Anna was delighted with the lamb burgers prepared by the Scout team.

On Saturday morning after a delicious full English breakfast we set out for Southend on Sea. Here we took the Southend Pier Railway out to the Pier Head. We spent lunchtime here in bright sunshine with cold drinks and ice cream, it was a good time for everyone. Return to the starting point on the Southend Pier Railway. Here in the "Adventure Island" the two children were allowed to let off steam a bit.

We spent Saturday evening in the event barn. First, the scouts strengthened themselves, then there were delicious beers and later the live music started.

On Sunday morning the usual procedure, dismantling the tent, packing the motorcycle, breakfast with the scouts and then the raffle and award ceremony. Then farewell to the Mayflowers and via our usual route to Hawthorn Farm Campsite & Holiday Park.

Once again pitched the tents for our last night in England. Dinner and a few pints in the nearby pub.

Monday morning the short distance down to the ferry and during the crossing the last delicious English breakfast.

Both the outward journey and the return journey went without any technical problems.
