Pilgrims

34th Pilgrims Rally, August 2009 - Mayflower MCC

This year we were also only two motorcyclists. On Friday, August 7th, Walter Trappe (BMW F650GS) and Hans Mondorf (BMW K100RS) drove towards England.

Until the arrival in Purleigh everything went as in pervious years. After we arrived in the "New Hall Vineyards", the beautiful part of the journey began, with a cold beer and into the fun of the Mayflowers.

On Saturday morning after a delicious English breakfast with the Scouts, Walter and I drove to the harbour in Harwich. There we watched the hustle and bustle of incoming and outgoing ferries and ships.

Back in Purleigh we spent Saturday night in the event barn. First strengthened by the scouts, then there were delicious beers and later the live music started.

On Sunday morning the usual procedure; after the raffle and award ceremony, farewell to the Mayflowers and our usual route towards Hawthorn Farm Campsite & Holiday Park.

Before we set up our tent there, we made a little detour to the "White Cliffs of Dover". There I remembered that I had a camera with me and immediately took a series of photos of the Port of Dover. A last supper and a few pints at the pub near the campsite.

Monday morning down to the ferry and during the crossing, I had tears in my eyes, the last delicious English breakfast for this weekend.

Both the outward journey and the return journey went without any technical problems.
