Rose and Crown, Tilton on the Hill

This week we welcomed back Derek to our ranks, much recovered from his broken ankle. A good first ride for him to join as it went to Tilton on the Hill via Illeston on the Hill and a few other hills in between. A puncture and a heavy fall by Bob provided more than enough drama.

We were joined at the Rose and Crown by Anne Jordan, Sheila Sleath, Helen Ayriss and Mick who came to treat us all on his birthday.

The Swan, Newbold Verdon

Nine Embers dodged showers on their ride to a new (for us) pub, The Swan in Newbold Verdon.

This week we were joined at the pub by Bob Nash and Nick Reeves.

Red Lion, Gilmorton

Eight Embers cycled a day later than usual and were rewarded with brilliant sunshine for their patience. There was a banana break at Ullesthorpe and our lunch stop at the Red Lion in Gilmorton.

After lunch it was a short and mainly downhill canter back to Cosby for coffee and a cake in Granny Smiths although Grahame and Simon still had a lot of miles to cycle home.

Black Horse, Grimston

Eleven Embers set out on a dull but dry day heading roughly north east from Syston. We made good time despite loitering over our banana break.

Luckily the landlady of the Black Horse at Grimston took pity on us and opened her door at ten minutes to noon so that Dave Parry could begin ordering birthday drinks.
