Sugar Loaf, Ab Kettleby

Another brilliant day with twelve Embers getting plastered - in mud! We stuck to the route until we reached the Sugar Loaf at Ab Kettleby and called out Ian Goodson to join us.

On the way back we stayed on tarmac and kept just ahead of rain clouds all the way to Ian's for tea and cake.

White Horse, Quorn

A cold wind blew twelve Embers from Kirby Muxloe towards Bradgate Park. We paused briefly to pop into the butchers at Groby to say hello to past member Maurice "Joe" Chaplin. Then on to the cafe in the park for a warm drink. We then pressed on to the White Horse at Quorn.

It tried to rain for the ride back but kept off as soon as Mick and Dave donned rainproofs. Embers who cycled back to Kirby Muxloe were rewarded with cake at Richard S's house.

Cherry Tree, Little Bowden

Ten Embers lured out onto the road with a cracking day (for the time of year). Out first stop was Foxton Locks to see the maintenance work being done while we scoffed our bananas. Then on to Market Harborough and the Cherry Tree in Little Bowden.

After covering the hills in the morning we cycled north east just so we could have the thrill of cycling into the wind on the way back to The Well in Kibworth.

Fox Inn, Hallaton

Twelve Embers started from Houghton on the Hill and from there it was all up hill, out and back.

Always ready for another adventure, they headed along the Gartree Road encumbered by bicycles. Something the Roman Legions never had to hold them up.

The advantage of this straight but muddy route is that it took them to the Fox Inn in Hallaton just in time for lunch.

Despite filling their tummies they still had an appetite for hills and ... cake! So they made their way to Ventoux Café near Tugby to see how the other half live.

Marching on into March. Or by bus, actually!
