COVID-19, Week 21

Northern Embers and the Southern Embers cross paths on today's ride. With Derek Foster keeping us in check. PW.

Eastern section parked at Ashwell cycled to Grimsthorpe then back via byways to Clipsham then Ashwell. VJ.

Northern section of the Embers went south along the Great Central Railway to Glen Parva. At Whetstone Lane Bridge we went onto the canal path to South Wigston. Then Countesthorpe and Kilby. Stopped at Wistow Cafe for tea and cake. Then onto Great Glen, to Houghton on the Hill then back to Syston for tea and cake for some. GB.

Southern section had an enjoyable ride, coffee at Quorn station, ice cream at Rothley station. RS.

First week of August with many Embers cycling miles.

COVID-19, Week 22

This week Ember Groups were dodging thunderstorms. South Group reached Manor Farm at Catthorpe just in time to take shelter.

East Group set out from Newborough then around Blithfield reservoir via Abbots Bromley and a pint in the local hostelry.

This week many Embers dodged rain to cover miles. Next week we are looking forward to some better weather.

COVID-19, Week 23

Southern Ember's cycle ride joined by Dave Parry to Melton Mowbray. Met up with the Northern Ember's on a glorious day topped off with first meal and pint since March.

Northern Embers cycled 34 miles. Syston, Ashfordby, Saxelby, Kinoulton. Stopped for a pie and pint at The Neville Arms in Kinoulton. Then onto Widmerpool, Willoughby on the Wolds. Ice cream at Granvilles in Wymswold. Sileby then home.

Eastern Embers covered 45 miles round trip from Colsterworth to Folkingham and return. Lovely day out managed a pint in the pub in Folkingham.

Fabulous day saw many Embers cycling miles.

COVID-19, Week 24

Southern Embers took a ride out to Hoar Park from Sutton Wharf. Dry first half of the ride but soon to be followed by a wet ride home.

Northern Embers cycled 44 miles. Stopped in Market Bosworth, at Ye Old Red Lion, for a pie and pint. Then a soggy ride home to Syston.

Eastern Embers cycled 40 miles from Newark north on the east side of the Trent to Fledborough then back to Newark on the west side of the Trent. Managed a pint in the Brownlow Arms at High Marnham and avoided the rain.

Polishing off August with many Embers paddling to miles.
