2021 Cycling

The Roebuck, Market Harborough

A brilliant but bitterly cold day with Embers heading off from Kibworth, up hill and down dale in a rush to reach the Roebuck in Market Harborough for crack on 12 noon.

This week many Embers cycled miles between them.

Stilton Cheese, Somerby

Seven Embers met at Houghton on the Hill (Leicestershire) and Derek Jordan led us to the Stilton Cheese at Somerby without going up a single hill!

Counting individual rides there were many Embers out this week and they cycled miles altogether (but not all together).

Not a Single Hill: There were dozens of the damned things!

The Cutting Room, Melton Mowbray

Big turn-out with thirteen Embers crowding the country lanes on their way from Syston to Melton Mowbray. We were welcomed by sheriff Eric Tindall in his cowboy hat, who guided us to our Cutting Room destination for lunch.

Our ride home led us to Beardsleys Tea Room where we had cake and coffee outside in the fresh air. Mick Perry rode solo this week so we had many Embers and a total of miles on another good day.

Elephant and Castle, Thurlaston

Embers didn't let the weather dampen their enthusiasm. Starting from Huncote they made their way swiftly (I should cocoa!) to Burbage Common via Kirkby Mallory. After a banana (and cake) break they returned to the Elephant and Castle in Thurlaston for lunch. Comments speak for themselves.

The many Embers who cycled this week covered miles between them.

Pug & Greyhound, Great Glen

A fairly short ride to round off the year. The twians cycled in the Melton area while eleven Embers set off from Shady Lane in a loop to lunch at Great Glen.

This week many Embers in two groups cycled miles in total.

Moving on into a better year ... we hope!
