2022 Cycling

Aprilclick for this month's league table

Roebuck, Market Harborough

A strong westerly wind blew eleven Embers to the Roebuck by way of Foxton Locks.

The ride back was into the teeth of the gale with a few heavy showers, but many Embers persevered and cycled miles.

The Elms, Lutterworth

Embers always arrive early for our start from Cosby because we gather in the cafe. Starting as we mean to go on! Although fourteen arrived, Tim couldn't join the ride. So Spike substituted today.

We took our banana break in Gilmorton and lunch at The Elms. We were last there in February but returned so that Mush could have his carvery.

Including Tim's shortened ride, many Embers covered miles, with the main group diverting to Ullesthorpe Garden Centre cafe for more cake on the way back.

Royal Horseshoes, Waltham

Eight Embers set off from Melton and followed the Eye east. Then turned north to the Royal Horseshoes at Waltham across a ford and a rough track.

Our lunch was a little later than planned due to a puncture, but we were rewarded by a superb meal as you will see from our review.

Velo John and Derek cycled on the same day and many Embers rode miles on a fabulous day.

Longshoot, Hinckley

A dozen Embers assembled at Sutton Wharf and cycled to Nuneaton along quiet cycle routes. Then threw themselves into the traffic to escape east to the Longshoot at Hinckley for lunch.

We made a good choice because they had no problem finding us tables and there was plenty to eat at the carvery.

After a short ride with no serious hills, many Embers covered miles. Seven cycled the basic miles and five came further.

Thrust into the lusty month of May.
