White Lion, Whissendine
Last week we curtailed our afternoon because of the threat of rain. This week eight Embers kept their ride short because of the heat.
Our intended route was blocked by Melton Ring Road construction, so we added some new lanes to our map and revisited the White Lion at Whissendine. We were rewarded by an excellent lunch and refreshed by Velo John's birthday drinks.
Starting September with put together by Embers.
Admiral Nelson, Braunston
Seven Embers cycling on a typical English September day, grey with occasional drizzle. We headed south the canal at Braunston where we found the Gongoozlers Rest closed. So we made our way back to the Admiral Nelson at Lock No 3 to watch the boats until opening time.
We then returned to Draycote Waterside, along a wet and slippery tow path.
This week Embers cycled .
Malt Shovel, Shardlow
Worthington Cloud Trail is a popular route for cyclists, walkers and joggers, leading all the way into Derby.
Today nine Embers left the trail at Swarkestone Lock and diverted east to the Malt Shovel at Shardlow.
This week Embers cycled between them.
Cross Keys, Epperstone
Wishbone reports "Local 38 miles ride today! On the way we saw a steeplejack going up the Wolsey chimney and felt sick just taking a photo."
The main ride saw ten Embers follow Velo John on more new trails to another pub new to us.
With local ride by Peter and Dave, Carol and Tim plus the main ride, the last week of September saw Embers riding .
The route of our latest ride is shown on the index page map as a blue line.
