Wheel & Compass, Weston by Welland
This week five fearless fellows forged into the headwind. An early pause at Mint and Ginger allowed us to catch our breath, then onwards we cycled.
Careful pacing brought us to the Wheel and Compass as they unbolted the door. Always good to arrive early ahead of the crincklies. Our return to Kibworth was via the short route with a following wind, so we had plenty of time for more refreshements (and cake) in The Well that's the name of a cafe, not a hole in the ground.
Beginning September with many Embers cycling miles.
The Butter Cross, Bingham
Four Embers today, Velo John, Derek, Ricardo & and Nigel, (who cycled in from home), We started from the old A606 Road, close to the junction with A46. It was a dry ride along the country lanes of Nottinghamshire. Morning coffee at Cotgrave.
Photo is outside Weatherspoons, we accosted a passer-by to provide the evidence.
Lunch was at Weatherspoons in Bingham. Afternoon coffee at Old Wharf Tearooms, Hickling.

Three Embers claimed miles for their Saturday ride in Kent.
By Sunday many Embers had cycled miles in groups.
Bulls Head, Clipston
This week the Embers in Kent claimed their Monday miles.
Eight embers met at Market Harborough and again were ably led by VJ on a 24 mile circular route to the south. He took us first to Lubenham then south to Naseby and lunch at the Bulls Head in Clipston. The Bass beer was very much appreciated especially as Grahame was in the chair. Happy Birthday mate.
The return journey took in a coffee break at Kelmarsh Hall and back to base via Arthingworth and Braybrooke. A great day out with no rain and light winds.
This week many Embers cycled miles between them.

Berkeley Arms, Wymondham
Seven Embers followed VJ from Melton Country Park to Burton Lazars then to Wymondham. With the poor forecast it was always planned to have a short ride and we almost made it back to Melton without getting wet; but not quite. Thankfully Carol made a good call to take shelter minutes before the worst downpour.
An excellent lunch at Wymondham at the Berkeley Arms. Given the lunchtime deal offer we were all forced to consume a pudding. Shame.
A great day out apart from the last 45 minutes.
Despite the dismal forecast, many Embers cycled miles.
