Big End
The 2024 badge to mark the 42nd Big End Rally, takes its inspiration from Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The number 42 is the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything, although we don't know what the question was, just like rallying.
Among various awards was Long Distance Overseas to Eric from France, Long Distsnce Lady to Gundy from Hamburg. Mayflower took best club turnout, narrowly ahead of Rampant Squirrels, decided on mileage. An unusual award for Honeymoon Couple went to Sam and Lizzy.
Band Weirdfish were very well received and have already been pencilled in for next year. Plans also include improved overnight toilet facilities. and possibly T-shirts to be ordered when booking.
The raffle and cake sales raised over £450 for the RNLI.
It is a delight to meet past club members if they don't dodge when they see me coming. John Newitt never misses a Big End.
Wombat (Mike Davis) still hopes to catch up with old friends Benny Caravelli and Mick Ayriss. This year he brought half a dozen fellow members of the Wiltshire Branch of the RE Owners Club to carry him back to his tent.
