Fu' Moon Rally

Run by Devon Valley MCC from Clackmannanshire, the first Fu' Moon was held in 1985 at a farm site just outside Linlithgow.

I was chairman of the Devon Valley MCC for awhile in the late 80s early 90s.

2nd rally '86 was at a hotel called "the dungeons" which was in Glendevon on the Clackmannshire/Kinross border. Camping was in a field at bottom of the drive up to the hotel, all I remember about it is that on Sunday morning we all woke up to a blanket of snow!

3rd rally '87 at the very posh Loch Achray Hotel in the Trossachs near Callander. Camping in field in front of hotel on the Loch side, hotel took care of beer, food, toilets etc. Saturday night we had rock gods 'Engine' playing, all the way from the Wirral, over 200 turned up, excellent night. Excellent hotel breakfast in the morning to set the hangovers straight. Good weather over the weekend, turned very windy on Sunday.

The Devon Valley MCC held four rallies at the Gartwhinzean Hotel in Powmill, about 5 miles from Knockhill race circuit in Central Scotland. Camping was opposite the hotel, across the main road.

Entertainment was by local bands supplemented by disco. Usual silly games on Saturday afternoon. Attendance at these rallies was around the 150-200 mark.

No incidents were recorded. A bit of a miracle considering the state of some rally goers after the bar shut!

Unfortunately the club did not put dates on their badges but these were held early 90s, the club held nine Fu' Moon in total at other sites.

Last Fu' Moon in '96.
