When you are far from home, possibly abroad, on a motorcycle rally, at a show or an international race meeting, a postcard was a handy way to share your thrill with folks at home, or just to let them know you were alive and had arrived.

National Mail services have always been quick to issue special stamps and first day covers to encourage people to use their services.
