Tzeekraeltreffen

1978/80 organized by ZMTC Electron, Holland
Kapelle, Zuid Beveland

This was one of a number of small Dutch rallies that I managed to attend while working in Germany. The site was overlooking the sea and in the distance you could just make out the nuclear power station at Borsele. It was the normal cafe type site, sandy grass field typical Dutch clean and tidy.

The organizers had laid on a few silly games one of which was a bicycle with the steering reversed by having two cogs at the steering head, so when the rider turned the bars to the right the front wheel turned to the left. I think most people tried it. No one got more than a few feet! Only the owner could master it.

I can't remember if there were any other English riders there. There may have been Stewart Pace who was working at a Hyatt hotel in Antwerp as a sous chef. He did several of the rallies as and when he got time off.

The high-light of this rally was the meal of mussels, bread and wine laid on at a very reasonable cost.

ZMTC Electron also organised the Zijspan Treffen as reported by Ted Trett.
